Every year, hundreds of hard working street vendors are criminally prosecuted for trying to survive. City Attorney Mike Feuer has the power to de-prioritize vending enforcement and to stop the criminalization of street vendors. He can also provide amnesty to vendors who have active citations, warrants for their arrest, and huge criminal justice debt. In the interest of justice, we are asking Mike Feuer to work with our coalition and address this crisis.
Thousands of hard working individuals and families rely on street vending to provide for their families. For 4 years, City Hall has been slowly developing a citywide legalization plan. Unfortunately, the pace of the legislative process is too slow. While the policy process continues, we are asking for the City Attorney to halt all prosecutions and provide amnesty to vendors. Join us for a rally and press conference in front of City Hall's east steps (off Main St). Hear testimony from #LAStreetVendors who have been crininlizated by LA's outdated municipal code.
